Certificates of Completion/ Post-Test
Registrants will receive a link to take a post-test immediately following the webinar. Registrants who score 80% on this post-test will receive a Certificate of Completion for 1 hour of content from Aquatic Therapy University. Preapproval of CEUs
Most states accept live webinars for contact hours without the need for preapproval. We have decided to go the extra mile and obtain preapproval of our on-demand webinars through the Federation of State Boards of PT. This course is being reviewed by FSBPT for 1 CCU (1 credit). Who Should Attend?
This course is appropriate for rehab professionals with a baseline level of knowledge about the properties of water (at least 500 hours working in an aquatic setting). The target audience is physical therapists and physical therapist assistants although other rehab professionals may benefit.

 

Description
This 1-hour webinar will bring you up to speed with fresh aquatic ideas from the pediatric trenches.

 


Learning Objectives

1.  Describe 2 facilitation techniques for inhibiting spasticity in the aquatic setting.

 

2. Describe 1 facilitation technique for improving trunk control with children in the aquatic setting.
 

 
3.  Given multiple choices, select 2 aquatic exercises which are designed to improve coordination and mobility in children with sensory challenges.
 
 
4.  Describe 2 innovative uses of common pool equipment (as discussed in course) to engage children in aquatic therapy.

 
5.  Describe 1 treatment idea discussed by the speaker relating to each of the following conditions: Torticollis and Juvenile Ideopathic Arthritis.
 

 


Instructor
Carrie Ciaverelli, PT, MPT, CYT is the lead physical therapist at Lakeway Aquatic Therapy & Wellness Center in Austin, TX.  Carrie has been practicing physical therapy since graduating from the University of Louisville in 2002.  She specializes in manual therapy, pediatrics and aquatics across the age spectrum.  Carrie also received her yoga teacher certification in 2010.  Carrie routinely presents clinical research at APTA Conferences and has been featured as a speaker at both CSM, WAHC and the AOAP conferences in areas of aquatics.  Carrie and her husband have two children.
